hearts & half asleep // a girl diary on the internet

oh hello little bunny, why do you run a blog even!

Hi, my name is Tiffany, and this is my blog, hearts & half asleep. I’m a sleepy girl with a lot of thoughts and feelings, and even more ambitions for this life. Since we’ve only got one, I thought… why not start a blog?

I’m not a professional writer, and I definitely don’t know the ins and outs of blogging yet. But I want to learn. I want to write. And I want this to be a kind of online diary, somewhere I can share slices of my life, my thoughts, and whatever else finds its way here. And of course, hopefully someone out there can relate and realize they’re not alone.

I’m 19, still living with my mom (not complaining, I love my mom), and I’m currently at that weird stage in life where I’m technically an adult, but a lot of the time I don’t feel like one. Like… I’m too old for the IKEA playroom, but not old enough to go to a bar with my friends. I turn 20 in September, and something about that made me pause and think, why not start now?

Why a blog?

Honestly, I’m not even sure where to start.

I think ever since I was little, I imagined this is what grown women would do, have their blogs, walk around their city in the cutest heels, carrying the coolest purse, and of course, sunglasses.

I recently watched Forbidden Fruits, and I genuinely felt like a little girl again, rediscovering the magical feeling of being aware that I’m a girl… a woman. Girlhood, girl blogs—I love being a girl. And what’s more “girl” than having a personal diary on the internet.

I think it’s exactly what I needed.

Whether you’re reading this randomly from I don’t know where, or you’re someone I know in real life, forget everything you know about me. And get ready to get to know me. Your quirky, pop culture-obsessed, online little sister. That’s me.

I know blogging isn’t the easiest thing in the world. But I think the more I write about myself, the more I get to know myself. And I’d say that’s my ultimate goal.

I’m on a personal journey of knowing myself through and through. A nineteen-year-old girl with big dreams, a few letdowns, and lots of lessons. But as I always say, that’s just how the cookie crumbles.

Right now, as I’m editing this, I’m sitting in the back of my logic class, lowkey suffering because I forgot my glasses and I can’t see the board. I actually love this class, but I guess I’ll take this as a little break from how busy life’s been lately.

Writing feels peaceful to me. So I’m really excited to start this. And I hope you enjoy it. But if not, that’s okay too.

If you made it this far through my brain dump… thank you.

I hope you keep coming back.

For now I’ll stay half asleep, but always dreaming.
